ACT Scoring

The ACT employs a comprehensive scaled scoring system to evaluate student performance. Each of the four core sections—English, Mathematics, Reading, and Science—is scored independently, with your Raw Score (the total number of correct answers) converted to a scaled score ranging from 1 to 36. Your ACT composite score, which also ranges from 1 to 36, is the average of these four section scores, ensuring a fair assessment of your overall abilities. Notably, there’s no penalty for incorrect answers, allowing you to answer freely without fear of losing points. Additionally, the Writing Section, which is optional, is scored separately and does not contribute to your composite score, providing a distinct opportunity to demonstrate your writing proficiency.
