IELTS No Rocket Science

The International English Language Testing System (IELTS) is widely accepted as a medium to assess the Candidate's capability of studying or getting trained by the medium of English. It is a joint venture of three bodies - British Council, IDP Australia and Cambridge. IELTS consists of four modules - Reading, Listening, Writing and Speaking. It is exhibited in two categories - General and Academic. ACADEMIC module deals with candidates who want to go abroad for persuing their studies whereas GENERAL module deals with candidates who are seeking immigration abroad.
 
In Reading section there are three passages that are moreover like the Reading Comprehensions we have studied in school. Each passage contains 13 - 14 questions and time alloted to each passage is 20 minutes. So the total questions in the task are 40 and  total time given to this module is 60 minutes ( 1 hour).
 
In Listening section there are four section. Each sections contains 10 questions and time alloted to each section is 10 - 12 minutes. So the total questions in the task are 40 and  total time given to this module is 30 minutes. 10 minutes extra are given to transfer the answers on the answer sheet. Total time given to this module is 40 minutes.
 
In Writing section there are two tasks. Task 1 is for 20 minutes and the candidate is required to write 150 words. Task 2 is for 40 minutes and the candidate is required to write 250 words.Task 2 is same for both the modules whereas Task 1 varies with the category.Total time given to this module is 60 minutes ( 1 hour).
 
In Speaking section there are three parts. The first part is the Introduction round, in this the candidate is asked routine questions. The second part is the Cue Card on which a topic is written the candidate is given 1 min to think and then 2 minutes to speak. The third part is the cross questions round, in this part the examiner asks the candidate questions on whatever the candidate spoke in part 2.
